As organizers, we understand cultural expression and joy should be at the center of everything we do. We can see no better way to help move an understanding of the systems and structures that impact our daily lives than through the magic of spoken word and poetry! The 14th Amendment defines what full citizenship means in our United States. It is the legal basis for many of our rights including: civil rights, reproductive rights, marriage equality, affirmative action, the right to privacy, due process, and so much more! Because of its power, however, it's been under attack by those who stand against a full participatory and multiracial democracy since its inception! We the Poets is our effort to counter that narrative and instead rally to celebrate and defend the 14th! We hope you join us!!
